Corinne Day inspired Portraiture

This piece is the end product of a Corinne Day inspired task in photography. 'Examination' was the key word and aspect of the lesson. However, the most memorable thing about it was the fact that we were being the photographer and the subject, which made you feel both intimidated and intimidating.

Chesterfield Town Center

We were given the task in my photography class to go into the center of Chesterfield and take pictures of scenes and people that might make the viewer stop and wonder, why those people? or what was so fascinating about this scene that the photographer thought it was worth capturing on picture. I thought this was an interesting assignment because it made me look at scenes in more detail and ask myself questions such as, who put those posters up? and who payed £1.40 to travel to Chesterfield on 22/09/11?

Exploring College

On my first day of Photography in College, I was given the task of finding different places around the site -such as the Library and Student Services and so on - taking Photo's of things that caught my eye along the way. I enjoyed this exercise, partly because it allowed me to find my bearings but mostly because
it meant that I noticed details of things which I would maybe never have noticed otherwise. Now I am able to look back at these photographs and remember why they intregued me and, hopefully, whereabouts in College they were.

What I liked the most about the picture above was the different pastel colours which compliment each other in the image, giving it an interesting quality. It also fascinates me that, where the pavement slabs have faded, you can make out figures and shapes of objects.

I also thought that this photo was interesting, because of the symmetry created by the different levels of stairs and the angle at which the photograph was taken.
